Sony PlayStation is reportedly developing a new AAA installment of the beloved God of War franchise, this time set against the backdrop of Egyptian mythology. This exciting news comes after the success of 2018’s God of War and its sequel, Ragnarok, which concluded the Norse saga with critical acclaim.

New Developments in the God of War Franchise

According to insider Daniel Richtman, who shared insights via his Patreon account, Sony is currently casting Middle Eastern actors for this mysterious AAA title. Richtman stated, “Sony is casting Middle Eastern actors for an unknown AAA game, which is likely to be the next God of War that explores Egyptian mythology.” This suggests that Kratos may soon embark on a new adventure steeped in ancient Egyptian lore.

    A Long-Considered Concept

Interestingly, the idea of integrating Egyptian mythology into the God of War series isn’t new. During the “Making Of” documentary for God of War (2018), creative director Cory Barlog mentioned that Egypt was initially considered as a setting before the team opted for Norse mythology instead.

    Caution and Anticipation

While this news is thrilling for fans, it’s essential to note that Sony has yet to officially confirm these developments. As such, it’s wise to approach this information with caution until more details emerge. This speculation follows the cancellation of a live-service God of War project by Bluepoint Games, which had been in development for two years.

In addition to this potential game, fans can also look forward to a God of War TV adaptation currently being developed by Amazon Prime.
